OMS Volleyball

There 3 practices that will not be at the Middle School (OMS). Instead, these practices will be at the Intermediate School from 4:30pm-6:30pm.

Please note the following dates and location changes on your calendar: 2/8, 2/15 & 3/1.

Here is the information (driving directions, schedule and site policies) regarding our first tournament on this Sunday, February 1st. Please read all information carefully and be sure to call or email me if you have questions.

We play the morning round (8 AM-2 PM), I hope we can work around church and other Sunday morning obligations. Please let me know right away if you have conflicts. I suspect that we will be finished before 2 PM given our playing rotation.

1. Driving Directions: Ralia Sports Center – From the west: Take I-494 north to I-694 east. Take the first exit, Hemlock Lane. Turn right onto Hemlock. Stay on Hemlock until reaching the light at 85th Avenue/Weaver Lake Road. Turn right. Take your first left onto Valley Forge Lane. Ralia Sports Center is the second building on the right.

2. Playing rotation: We play our first match at 8 AM – please have the girls there by 7:30 AM. We play at 8, Sit at 9, Ref at 10, Play at 11 and Play at Noon. See the attached schedule for greater details – We are Orono 14-1.

Finally, the girls and I discussed the fact that our uniform shorts should be navy rather than black. I do not want this to be a hassle for you if you have already purchased black. If possible, we are asking the girls to get navy, but to bring both navy and black shorts on Sunday.

The girls are doing wonderfully and really catching on to our new 6-2 offense. I look forward to a fun tournament!

The issued uniform tops seem to run small, however, they are meant to fit quite snug. If there is a concern please contact your coach and we will see what we can do.

The girls also selected volleyball socks. There will be an additional charge for these of $6.40 per pair. THey have been prepaid for so you may either write a check or cash for that amount.

You will need to purchase a pair of volleyball shorts (mid-thigh length spandex).

Girls to review the scorekeeping procedures by going to the website www.ncrusav.org and go to Jr. Girls and click on the Officiating link and view the scorekeeping PowerPoint. The more they get a look at this information, the easier it will be for them to grasp. It is not difficult but there is much detail to learn.
